PLDT TelPad

Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. is “reinventing” the telephone with the launch of a new tablet computer to be bundled with landlines and Internet subscriptions under one plan.
In a statement, the company announced the launch of its PLDT TelPad service.
Each PLDT TelPad unit includes a special handset that also serves as a charging dock for an application-rich, 7-inch screen tablet computer.
Subscribers can use the handset or the portable tablet computer to make and receive phone calls and access more than 100,000 online applications. This is on top of the unlimited broadband access of the bundled service.
“We are reshaping the future of the landline and we are starting to bring it to the market now,” said PLDT president and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno. “We are proud that the PLDT TelPad was conceptualized and developed here in the Philippines using world-class technology.”
The PLDT TelPad is powered by a 1-Ghz Cortex A8 processor that enables the device to deliver snappy performance. It runs on an Android operating system, a platform developed by Internet giant Google originally for mobile phones, which offers genuine multi-tasking capabilities.
The unit has two gigabytes of internal capacity that can be augmented by a memory card. The TelPad also carries a 2-megapixel front camera for still shots and videoconference calls.
The PLDT TelPad service starts at Plan 1849 with 1-megabyte-per-second broadband connection and landline service. The PLDT TelPad unit comes bundled with the plan.
Existing PLDT myDSL customers only need to add as low as P500 a month to upgrade to the TelPad plans.
PLDT, which is chaired by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan, is the country’s No. 1 telecommunications firm with about 44 million subscribers.
Be one of the first to experience the world’s first tablet and landline in one!

Suntok Ginto

The Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines (ABAP) has launched Suntok Ginto, a ‘‘bayanihan’’ effort which aims to raise funds to help elite Filipino boxers pursue the country's golden dream in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

From its nationwide search program, ABAP identified a few boxers that can be developed into Olympic champions.

Asian Games gold medalist Rey Saludar and his brother Victorio, the bronze medal winner, are at the forefront of boxing's quest for gold in London. The others in the fold are Gerson Nietes, Charly Suarez, James Boy Vicera, Joegin Ladon, Delfin Boholst and Wilfredo Lopez.

With women's boxing making its Olympic debut in 2010, ABAP also has a formidable team with Guangzhou Asian Games silver medalist Annie Albania, Southeast Asian Games winners Josie Gabuco and Alice Kate Appari and new finds Annaliza Cruz and Nesthy Petecio.

SM and Banco de Oro have already thrown their full support to the team. Suntok Ginto donation boxers can now be found in SM branches nationwide. Others donations may be coursed through any BDO branches. SGV & Co. will be the external auditor of ABAP.

"Our fans are tired of silver and bronze, we want gold this time," said coach Nolito Velasco.

Boxing has accounted for most of country’s medals in the post-war Olympics with Anthony Villanueva winning a silver medal in the 1964 Olympics and Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco the other silver 32 years later in Atlanta. In between, Leopoldo Serrantes (1988 Seoul Olympics) and Roel Velasco (1992 Barcelona Olympics) accounted for the country's two bronze medals.

The ABAP has continued to be a result-oriented organization since the time of the Paranaque Rep. Roilo Golez. It has a new management team in top corporate executives Manny V. Pangilinan, Ricky Vargas and Pato Gregorio, and with Ed Picson as its executive director.

Watch 3D videos on your iPhone or iPod Touch without glasses using i3G

i3DG is a playful analog extension to an iPhone, converting its 2D display into a layered 3D view. Using the very old technique of placing a halfsilvered mirror at a 45-degree angle in front of an image, in a novel new context, the project serves as a timely critique of the popular memes of 3D displays and iPhones. As a gadget peripheral, i3DG can support a wide range of different applications, ranging from simple 3D videos and animations to accelerometer based games.

Buying Time

This is not connected to food or whatsoever. I just want to share with you what I read earlier, touched my heart and got teary eyed.

Buying time by Paulo Coelho

A man came home from work late again, tired and irritated, to find his 5-year-old son waiting for him at the door.
“Daddy, may I ask you a question?”
“Yeah, sure, what is it?” replied the man.
“Daddy, how much money do you make an hour?
“That’s none of your business! What makes you ask such a thing?” the man said angrily.
“I just want to know. Please tell me, how much do you make an hour?” pleaded the little boy.
“If you must know, I make 150 pesos an hour.”
“Oh,” the little boy replied, head bowed. Looking up, he said, “Daddy, may I borrow 75 pesos please?”
The father was furious. “If the only reason you wanted to know how much money I make is just so you can borrow some to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. I work long, hard hours everyday and don’t have time for such childish games.” The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door. The man sat down and started to get even madder about the little boy’s questioning. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After an hour or so, the man had calmed down, and started to think he may have been a little hard on his son. Maybe there was something he really needed to buy with that 75 pesos, and he really didn’t ask for money very often. The man went to the door of the little boy’s room and opened the door. “Are you asleep son?” he asked.
“No daddy, I’m awake,” replied the boy.
“I’ve been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you earlier,” said the man. “It’s been a long day and I took my aggravation out on you. Here’s that 75 pesos you asked for.” The little boy sat straight up, beaming. “Oh, thank you daddy!” he yelled. Then, reaching under his pillow, he pulled out some more crumpled up bills. The man, seeing that the boy already had money, started to get angry again. The little boy slowly counted out his money, then looked up at the man.
“Why did you want more money if you already had some?” the father grumbled. “Because I didn’t have enough, but now I do,” the little boy replied.
“Daddy, I have 150 pesos now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you."
The father was crushed. He put his arms around his little son, and he begged for his forgiveness.

-> It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with those who really matter to us, those close to our hearts.

Do remember to share that 150 pesos worth of your time with someone you love. If we die tomorrow, the company that we are working for could easily replace us in a matter of hours... But the family & friends we leave behind will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

Racing Car

We all know that cake is probably the best thing would complete any occasion. We see it everywhere - stores, bake shops, pastry shops... But now, it is the most trend used all year round.

I am a cake artist. I am an amateur in decorating one but majority say that it came from a professional. *blush* My cake decorating started just a hobby. I started from the old 7 minute icing technique to fondant making. I never thought I would leveled up like this. I did a lot actually.

Last week, my mom told me that an order was placed and has to be delivered by Sunday. She told me that the client, a 4 year old boy wants a color red car with specs of yellow. Thinking... Hmmm... Lightning McQueen from Cars perhaps? We agreed on it.

Over the weekend, we started. My mom did the baking and I did the rest. It was a pain while carving the medium at first. But in the long run, I'm getting the hang of it. I, myself was in shock when I saw the finished product. It took me one day to complete the whole thing.

So, I don't want to keep you waiting. Here it is...
